When Was Barbie First Sold?
The first Barbie was first launched on March the 9th, 1959 at New York International American Toy Fair.
Here is a picture of the first Babie. She wore a white and black zebra print swimsuit with a ponytail in either blonde or brunette. Charlotte Johnson designed Barbie's clothes. The dolls were manufactured in Japan. 350,000 Barbies were sold in the first year of production.
Barbie had pale white skin, eyeshadow and lipstick on. She had round holes of copper tubes in the bottom of her feet like in the picture shown.
